Sweet & sour chicken smash tacos
Servings: 4 | Cook Time: 25 minutes | Dairy-free, gluten-free, high-protein
A healthy and easy dinner option, this viral chicken smash taco recipe with a sweet & sour twist is a fun way to change up your usual weeknight dinner routine. Crispy broccoli and onions pair well with the sweet and sour flavored chicken, all wrapped in warm gluten-free tortilla. This balanced dish is full of flavor, and can be made in under 30 minutes on a weeknight. This dish is a new favorite!

Ingredients
For the tacos:
1 pound lean ground chicken
1 tablespoon sweet chili sauce
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon ginger powder
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1 8-pack mini almond flour tortillas
Avocado oil spray
For the broccoli and onions:
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1 head of broccoli, chopped
1 small yellow onion, chopped
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1/2 teaspoon salt
For the toppings:
Coconut aminos, as desired
Fresh lime, as desired
Crunchy chili oil, as desired
Instructions
Prepare the vegetables: In a bowl, toss 1 chopped head of broccoli and 1 small chopped yellow onion with 1 tablespoon sesame oil and ½ teaspoon salt. Air fry the mixture at 375°F for 6 to 8 minutes. Set aside.
Prepare the chicken: In an additional bowl, combine 1 pound of lean ground chicken with 1 tablespoon of sweet chili sauce, ½ teaspoon garlic powder, ½ teaspoon onion powder, ¼ teaspoon ground ginger, and ½ teaspoon kosher salt. Mix well until evenly combined.
Prepare the smash tacos: On a piece of parchment paper, lay out each almond flour tortilla and add 1 scoop of ground chicken mix to each, covering it so that the chicken mixture is thinly laid on the tortilla.
Cook the smash tacos: Preheat a large skillet over medium heat, and spray with avocado oil. Once hot, place about 2 tortillas on the pan with the chicken side down. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes, ensuring the chicken is cooked through. Flip and cook for another 2 to 3 minutes. Repeat until all tacos are cooked.
Serve: To serve, top each smash taco with the air-fried broccoli and onion mixture. Top with a splash of coconut aminos, crunchy chili oil, and fresh lime. Enjoy!
Pro Tip: The layer on the taco should be very thin to ensure that the chicken is cooked all the way through. Press down on the taco to ensure contact with the pan happens.
For vegetarian/vegan dietary restrictions: Consider preparing tofu tacos instead.
